The first Indian rider called an Uber ten years ago in Bengaluru, starting a path that swiftly saw the app become the most popular one in the nation for both drivers and passengers. Since then, Uber has changed how people get around in India. Here is a look back at the influence Uber has had throughout the years to mark this important milestone.

The goal of Uber has always been to create opportunities. Uber has innovated for Indian customers during this ten-year journey, empowering earners by reducing inefficiencies and leveraging technology to unleash greater value for all.

  • Since 2013, Uber drivers have made over ₹50,000 crore by working with the network.
  • Uber drivers have logged 3,300 billion kilometers in total, which is nearly 86,000 times the distance from Earth to the Moon!
  • The total number of journeys taken on Uber in India came to 300 crore.
  • The number of drivers who have made money through the Uber app as driver partners is 30 lakh. This is enough to fill Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium 30 times over!
  • As it fulfills its promise to become a zero-emissions platform by 2040, 4 crore kilometers have been driven in green vehicles on the platform.

It began in a few locations and today serves over 125 cities in India, enabling millions of consumers to quickly book a trip and assisting over 800,000 drivers in generating a living wage.

  • In India, 90% of respondents claim that Uber has completely changed the way they travel.
  • The availability of ridesharing services, according to 72% of respondents, has caused them to reconsider buying a personal automobile.
  • More than 30% of users claim that Uber’s availability of mobility across a variety of modalities is their favorite feature. Saving time during the trip comes in third, followed by avoiding auto maintenance and driver compensation.
  • 79% of those surveyed claimed that their drinking-related nightlife plans depend entirely or regularly on Uber.
  • Over the next ten years, according to over 55% of respondents, sustainable mobility will become the norm.

In response to the unique needs of Indian drivers and riders, the firm has made a number of firsts for India. It has continuously worked to give its users a smooth experience, from the addition of cash payments and regional language support to the adoption of multiple industry-first safety features.
