US Restaurant Owners Drive 850km To Cook Food For Woman Fighting Stage 4 Cancer

The hospitality industry has suffered terribly across the world since the pandemic. While the situation is stabilizing to a degree, several restaurants despite the struggles,  are going the extra mile to show their support for the community. Recently, an Asian restaurant’s in the USA, floored social media through its heartwarming gesture. The restaurant owners drove 850km to cook food for a woman battling stage 4 cancer. She yearned to eat her favourite dish, so her son-in-law requested her favourite restaurant Ekiben to make her wish a reality. However, the kind owners, went an extra mile, literally. US Woman Suffering From Lung Cancer Wished To Eat Favourite Food

The owners of Ekiben (an Asian restaurant in the USA) drove from Baltimore in Maryland to Vermont, a distance of 850 km, to cook a meal for a woman battling stage four lung cancer. The son-in-law of the woman battling cancer shared the story on a private Facebook group called ‘Canton Neighbors’ and mentioned that anytime his mother-in-law would visit Baltimore, she would turn up to the eatery, Ekiben to have one dish in particular — Tempura Broccoli. She had even joked earlier, that she would like to have Tempura Broccoli on her deathbed.

Asian Restaurant Owners Drove 850km To Cook Her Favourite Dish

Visiting the woman, her family reached out to Ekiben to see if there was a way to either get the recipe or some ingredients to bring up and cook it for her as her last wish. In response, Steve Chu, one of the owners and chef at the establishment, replied, “Thanks for reaching out. Ephrem and I are more than willing to meet you guys in Vermont and make the food fresh so it will be just like what she remembered.” This magnanimous gesture really touched the family. The son-in-law shared on Facebook that, “I’m still in disbelief that they would go to such lengths.” He also informed me that they were coordinating everything for a big surprise.
