Bundelkhand, a hilly region spread across Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh is known for its rich flora and fauna. While tourists often visit Bundelkhand for its ancient temples in Khajuraho, its wildlife remains untapped. So, the Uttar Pradesh government is all set to develop the region into a wildlife hub. In the near future, you can expect to visit Bundelkhand for its bear and tiger safaris and much more.

UP To Develop Wildlife Reserves & Zoos In Bundelkhand

According to a Times of India report, Uttar Pradesh is on a mission to develop Bundelkhand’s Bear Reserve in Lalitpur and Tiger Reserve in Chitrakoot. Apart from the wildlife reserves the region will also welcome a massive zoo in Jhansi. This is touted to be the biggest zoo in Uttar Pradesh. Nestled across 125 acres in Garhmau in Jhansi, the area will soon be home to a zoo. The UP cabinet has already approved the project to turn Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary in Chitrakoot into a tiger reserve.

Meanwhile, when it comes to the bear reserve, Madavara area is home to many bears. So, the government thought it was the right decision to develop the area into a bear reserve, namely, Lalitpur Bear Reserve. The opening of the tiger reserve, bear reserve and zoo will definitely boost tourism in Bundelkhand. More importantly, it will also enhance employment opportunities in the area. Once the wildlife reserves and zoos come to fruition, the UP government will connect them to its tourism circuit.

Meanwhile, let’s tell you a little about the UP government’s current Bundelkhand tourism circuit. It takes you across Chitrakoot, Bithoor, Jhansi, Kalingar and Mahoba. You can visit the ancient forts, holy towns significant in Ramayana, myriad lakes, the Sun temple and Rahila and much more. Bundelkhand is also known for its delicious cuisine. A feast for carnivores awaits in the region located in the Madhya Pradesh side. The dark-coloured Kadaknath Murg, aromatic Bundeli Gosht and Keeme Ki Tikki are super delicious.
