Vadodara Cops Prepare Meals For Needy After Duty Hours

Police officers from Vadodara, Gujarat have taken up the task to feed the underprivileged people during the coronavirus lockdown. They have done this by reportedly turning their police station’s kitchen into a community kitchen. According to TOI, this initiative came into existence when a man who unfortunately lost his daughter to cancer, donated groceries to the police department to help out the needy. The police officers who knew about the dire conditions of hungry people out on the streets decided to use the groceries to prepare meals for them. DCP Saroj Kumari gathered a team of eight police officials, who work in the police kitchen after completing their duty hours.

Senior police officials were initially funding groceries by donating money to the kitchen. The cops who cooked the meals weren’t sure how long they could sustain this initiative. But fortunately, once people became aware of this noble initiative they started donating either money or groceries to the kitchen. DCP Saroj Kumari stated to TOI “Some citizens of Sanskarinagri donated either groceries or money to the police instead of celebrating their birthday parties or anniversaries.”
