Vidya Balan Shared With Us Raj Kapoor’s Favourite Chembur Food Stall

Vidya Balan has very fond memories of Chembur as she has spent a large chunk of her life in this area. Both Kamiya and Vidya are Chembur girls so they bonded over a lot of memories from Chembur, starting from its cinema halls to good street food stalls and more. We wanted to know some of her recommendations from Chembur.

She told us that you have to have delicious bhelpuri, sev puri, dahi batata puri, and ragda pattice from her favourite street stall, Gupta Bhelpuri. It is located near the Chembur railway station but she does say that she has not been there in ages. So what are you guys doing? Head over to Gupta Bhelpuri and let us know if you agree with its review and think that the street food here is delicious.

Vidya Balan also shares another interesting fact related to Gupta Bhelpuri. She said, “Even Raj Kapoor used to go there by the way!” We are pretty sure now all Raj Kapoor fanatics will try to find and eat at Gupta Bhelpuri with much zeal and love.

She also enjoys eating Vada Pav from the stand opposite to Chembur post office. Vidya is especially very fond of the garlic chutney they provide. We were surprised to notice that Vidya kept on sharing good food recommendations and we honestly did not miss out on any of them. She added that it is worthwhile eating samosa pav sold by a seller on 16th Road despite the fact that she has to squeeze out extra oil before indulging.

We wanted to know how she ended up choosing a career path in the film industry. Her first ever photoshoot was during her childhood days. It was a poster for Kerala Tourism and she had to pose for a family portrait under huge coconut trees. That’s when she began with commercials, she said.

With time Vidya Balan started bagging many commercials and started earning a good salary during her college days. Finally, in 2000, she got selected for Mohanlal’s movie, a well-known actor and producer in the Malayalam film industry. She signed a lot more Malayalam films but got replaced from 12 of those due to bad luck. It was a tough time for her.
