Virender Sehwag’s Hilarious Banana Pun Has Paved The Pitch For Memes And We Love It

Virender Sehwag is already a well-known professional cricketer. We know he is a master when it comes to cricket, but there is another game in which he seems to excel. That game is the game of words. Recently, he took to Twitter and tweeted out a hilarious word-play which left his audience in splits. His athletic prowess is formidable, that’s for sure. And with this tweet, we can be sure that he is also a master in the game of words.

Virender Sehwag’s Hilarious Banana Pun

In a recent tweet, the famous cricketer posted the following on the micro-blogging website, which just happens to be a perfect platform for such short-formed hilarious content. He said, “Bananas without ‘B’ is pineapple.”

For those reading who did not understand this multi-lingual pun, ‘ananas’ which is what is left if you remove the letter ‘b’ from bananas, means pineapple in Hindi and Marathi. Hence the joke, if you remove the ‘b’ from bananas, what you are left with is pineapple, an entirely different fruit!

Internet Reacts With Equally Hilarious Memes

If you know anything about the Internet, you know that it loves a situation that it can make memes on. And this tweet from one of India’s most loved cricketers provided a perfect opportunity for just that. Here are some of our top favourite reactions to Virender Sehwag’s hilarious tweet.

This user says that the tweet is so brilliant it could be his academic thesis. We agree, would definitely call him a doctor of puns if we were on the thesis evaluation panel.

Another user tweeted a sardonic GIF of the prime minister of the country saying that India is filled with bright people. The implication is that Sehwag’s tweet is an exhibit of that brightness.

This user took the word game a step further by saying that the same pineapple, ‘ananas,’ without an ‘a,’ is their, presumably maternal, grandfather. If you know, you know.
