Earlier this month, various districts in Himachal and Manali received heavy snowfall. Usually Manali is a getaway for people during summer months, but come winter, it becomes a wonderland. Yes, finding your way around might become difficult because of the snow and blocked roads, but you will also get a glimpse of some of the most beautiful sights. In all probability, the Leh-Manali highway gets shut during this time of the year, but there is a lot more for you to do in this town itself. Take a walk on Manali mall road , drive upto Gulaba pass, or head out for a trek. If you haven’t been to Ladakh yet, there couldn’t be a better time and opportunity. Even though, there are direct flights to Leh, one of the most preferred way to travel to this beautiful place is by road. Because of the severe snowfall and weather conditions, some of the places in Leh shut down. After all, the best time to travel to Ladakh is during summer months. But this barren town has a beauty of its own when it’s deserted. Reach Khardung-La, the highest motor-able pass in the world, or just meditate at the Shanti Stupa. Feeling a little extra adventurous, take a bike ride to Pangong-Tso. However, we would not suggest driving down from Leh to Manali, as the highway gets buried in snow.

5. Srinagar

This year, Kashmir witnessed season’s first snowfall and the snow covered landscape made it to the hall of fame. When has it not? A shikara ride on the Dal Lake and a powdered Char Chinar is beauty at its best. You can also visit the Mughal Garden, Hazratbal Shrine, and the Tulip Garden to capture some beautiful photos. While the snow adds on to the beauty, it also adds on to the hassle. Given severe weather conditions, flights are being cancelled as well. So, we would suggest a road trip instead.
