Yauatcha Mumbai Shuts Central Kitchen Indefinitely After Staff Member Tests COVID-19 Positive

Recently, a staff member of fine dine restaurant Yauatcha in BKC, Mumbai tested positive for COVID-19. This is despite all measures and check ups being in place. The restaurant took to social media to let everyone know of their current condition. Yauatcha is a fine dine restaurant located at BKC in Mumbai and is also a popular celebrity hangout. The restaurant had just recently announced long distance delivery.

We are living in unknown times. No matter what you do or how you do it, you could face criticism. While a a large number of people believe that now is not the time to eat restaurant food and only eat home cooked meals, there are others who do not have the means to cook and are reliant on restaurant meals. There are others who just wish to indulge their cravings. Whatever the reason, the government has given a go ahead to restaurants for takeaways and deliveries. After receiving the green signal, a host of restaurants opened up, and judging by the constant demand, a lot of residents are also ordering from these places. While this is great news, there is an element of risk attached to deliveries & take aways. Not so long ago, a Dominoes delivery boy tested positive for COVID-19 and he had visited 70 houses before his test. Now, a similar incident has happened in Mumbai.

In just a few days after the long distance delivery announcement by Yauatcha, a staff member tested positive for COVID-19, and the kitchen had to be shut indefinitely. This is what they had to say about the incident:

“Inspite of taking all precautionary measures and ensuring the utmost level of hygiene, we are saddened to announce that a team member has tested positive for COVID-19 on 16th May, 2020.

The central kitchen is closed indefinitely for deep sanitisation and the full team is in self-isolation and being tested. In the meantime, if you have any queries please contact us at info@kahospitality.com and we will do our best to answer them

Reactions To Yauatcha’s Social Media Post

While most people have reacted positively to Yauatcha’s post and commended them on taking this step of informing people through social media, there has been a certain amount of negativity as well. Even fashion designer, Masaba Gupta took to the comments to express her support and love.

However, there have been others who are under the assumption that not enough was done to ensure the safety of customers and hence the staff member being positive for coronavirus went undetected. Take a look at the comments below:
