It has not even been a day since Zomato started approaching eateries and restaurants to increase the percentage of commissions across different cities. And this step taken by the food delivery company has infuriated the eateries and restaurants. These places are set to take an action soon against the company with a pushback. It has been only some time since the company began to discuss the new rules with so many eateries and restaurants at different locations. If you wonder what is the actual reason of Zomato for doing this change all over again, they are doing this to increase the profit in between loss and a dip in profitability.

The situation is getting very contrasting at the moment. While some reports are stating that Zomato took the decision of keeping the same percentage of commissions because it wanted to help the industry during the time of COVID-19 pandemic. Not only this, but many sources are saying that this decision was also in the favour of many new and small restaurants to join the wave of online food delivery. In comparison with Zomato’s biggest competition in the market Swiggy, Zomato charged a commission of about 4%-6% lesser than Swiggy at various places, as reported by MoneyContol.

Eateries & Restaurants Do Not Agree With New Changes

Zomato is showing various reasons behind the company taking the new decision to hike the commission rate. But no owners of eateries are agreeing to these claims. According to a report by MoneyContol, a Mumbai-based restaurant owner stated that they may decide to take legal action against Zomato.

The report also states how many sources are saying that Zomato might begin the new changes sometime in the upcoming month. In fact, the food delivery company is also in the process of influencing eateries and restaurants to start using their B2B grocery service named Hyperpure as this will help in reducing their commission percentage.

There are no further updates about the changes in terms of commission as of now.
