Mughal Road and Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road have been closed for vehicular movement for two days, according to a report by The Times of India. Both these roads play a crucial role in linking Kashmir with different places. The recent downpour at the Peer ki Gali became too risky and the Mughal Road had to be closed. Also, the concerned authorities had to halt transportation on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road because of poor weather updates and the present condition of the road, shared a traffic control room official.

In the past couple of days, several places in Srinagar received light to moderate rains. The weather conditions went down south in different parts of the Kashmir division as many locations experienced spells of rainfall. In addition to these places, locations in the Jammu division were also hit by downpours. Spells of continuous rain have deteriorated conditions in many areas.

The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority recently issued an alert for avalanches. This warning for Kashmir’s 4 districts stated a risk of an avalanche with a medium danger level. The districts are Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, and Kupwara.
