20 Lush Green Mini Forests To Come Up In Delhi Soon

Delhi will soon get new lungs in its nook and cranny in the form of green. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is planning to create 20 mini forests in some highly populated areas of Delhi. The plan has come as a part of MCD’s annual greening action plan for 2022. As part of the plan, the authorities are planning to grow saplings of 85,000 trees and 520,000 shrubs. As per reports, the forests will come up in places like Shankar Road, C-2 block Keshav Puram and Keshavpuram zone. The forest covers will not only add more greenery to the city but might also help in controlling pollution levels.

Japanese Miyawaki Forests To Come Up In Different Parts Of Delhi

According to a Hindustan Times report, a horticulture department official has stated that a Japanese Miyawaki plantation was carried out near Mayur Vihar. The official added that more such forests will come up in areas like Nand Nagari and Sunder Nagari. Reportedly, Miyawaki forests are thicker than usual forests and they develop in just a span of two to three years.

You won’t have to move out of Delhi in search of green as the city has many lush nature pockets. More such pockets will come up with the introduction of these new forests.
