Earthquakes are a type of phenomenon that has been occurring quite frequently these days all over the world. The region of Leh and Ladakh was recently jolted by an earthquake. The earthquake was measured to be 4.5 magnitudes on the Richter Scale. No injuries, loss of lives, or property damage has been reported thus far. In an unfortunate turn of events, the region of the Union Territory of Leh and Ladakh recently witnessed an intense earthquake. The quake measured up to 4.5 magnitudes on the Richter Scale. It took place in the early morning around 4:33 AM.
In the early hours of the morning on December 26, 2023, the people of Leh and Ladakh felt the tremors of this earthquake. According to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) by the National Center for Seismology or NCS, the depth of the earthquake was five kilometres.
The epicentre of the earthquake was at Lattitude 34.73 and Longitude 77.07. Fortunately, though, no injuries, damage to property or loss of lives have been reported so far. This means that the people were safe and the earthquake did not do much damage.

The NCS also shared another post before this which stated the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir also witnessed mild tremors. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured to be 3.7 magnitudes.
