1. Start With The Dhoklas At The Legendary Rajubhai Dhoklawala
Located in MG Road, this wildly popular spot serves more than 20 different varieties of Dhokla since 20 years. Of course, the classic Dhokla is uber delicious but when you find yourself at Rajubhai Dhoklawala, be sure to try the quirky combinations here like Pizza Dhokla and the Mayonnaise Dhokla just the way I did. Who knew the simple Dhokla could incorporate so many different flavours inside! The soft Dhoklas with the tangy pizza sauces were a gastronomical adventure in itself.

2. Move On To Piping Hot Jalebis And Gathiyas At Mumbadevi Jalebiwala
This place has been around since 1897, still up and running, serving people with some hot jalebis and Gathiyas along with an innovative and tasty pumpkin chutney and green chillis. And I was even more excited to try the jalebis as I found out how all the Jalebis are made in PURE Ghee. This is the perfect Gujarati snack I am told and I couldn’t argue anymore. We Delhiites love them jalebis just as much.

3. Time For Locho At Gopal Locho
Made with chickpea paste and then steamed, adding a host of toppings, this quintessential Gujarati dish has won many hearts and I was bowled over too what with Lochos at Gopal Locho being even more special. Try the Lasanya Locho which is loaded with Garlic chutney, cheese, sev and is served with a spicy green chutney. This is for all those who are not a fan of the sweet Gujarati dishes but like some spice in their food instead.

4. Get Patra And Fafda At Shree Ram Sweets and Farsan
Another old favourite since 1994, you will get everything here from sweets to Farsan. And I am a fan of both! The tangy and also sweet Patra dish is what blew me away, this is made with smearing a delicious besan paste onto colocasia leaves and then steaming them until they are ready to eat. And with the rains in the background, everything tasted even better.

5. Try Kandivali’s Famous Kachori At Mahavir Murlidhar Farsan
I just could not wait to get my hands on some delicious kachoris and so rushed to Mahavir Murlidhar Farsan, a 19-year-old place in Kandivali famous for churning out hot and yummy Kachoris. These are served with a sweet chutney as well as a dried garlic chutney that pair up with the kachoris. What’s more, I have to praise Gujrati peoples hospitality, I came here specifically to try the Kachori but the owner insisted that we must try the Samosa Farsan and the Sweet Boondi too.

They aren’t super spicy but still garner that punch necessary to uplift any bhajiya from an average one to the best!
