A 100-Crore African Safari Is Coming To Nagpur And We Can’t Wait!

Africa is the second biggest continent in the world. It is known for being home to the largest river and desert in the world. But it also is rich in wildlife. Think of Africa and exploring its wildlife is something that instantly and surely pops into your mind. What if you can explore the wildlife in Africa, here in Maharashtra itself? No, we are not joking. The Maharashtra government is soon launching a ₹100-crore African Safari in Nagpur. 

First Experiment To Display Wildlife From Africa

A ₹100-Crore African Safari project in Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoological Park, Nagpur was announced by the government of Maharashtra in Budget 2022-23. Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar stated that this is the country’s first experiment to display wildlife from Africa. 

Tiger and Leopard Safari

A ₹60 crore Leopard safari is in the pipeline in a 90-hectare forest area in Pune and another plan with a Tiger safari and a wildlife rescue centre in a 171-hectare area in Chandrapur district. 

Maharashtra Gene Bank

Efforts to establish a  ₹286-crore Maharashtra Gene Bank Project over the next five years are also in the pipeline. By preserving genetic diversity in the state, the gene bank will be beneficial to the state.
