ADAFSA Shuts Down Abu Dhabi’s Desi Pak Punjab Restaurant Over Food Safety Violation

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has taken decisive action against the “Desi Pak Punjab Restaurant” in the Emirate, closing the facility due to significant breaches of food safety and hygiene regulations. This move underscores ADAFSA’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the highest standards of food safety within Abu Dhabi.

Insect Infestation: A Serious Breach

ADAFSA’s inspection team uncovered a severe insect infestation in the restaurant’s food preparation area. This critical violation raised immediate concerns about the establishment’s compliance with essential food safety standards. The presence of insects in areas where food is prepared poses a significant health risk, as it can lead to contamination and the spread of foodborne illnesses. ADAFSA’s swift response to this issue highlights the importance of maintaining strict hygiene practices in all food establishments.

Hygiene Shortcomings: Ventilation and Cleanliness Issues

The inspection also revealed substantial deficiencies in ventilation and overall cleanliness. Proper ventilation is crucial in any food service environment to ensure that air quality is maintained and to prevent the buildup of harmful bacteria and other pathogens. Additionally, general cleanliness is a fundamental aspect of food safety. The lack of adherence to these standards at Desi Pak Punjab Restaurant compounded the seriousness of the violations, leading ADAFSA to take swift action to protect public health.

ADAFSA’s Commitment to Food Safety

The closure of Desi Pak Punjab Restaurant is part of ADAFSA’s broader strategy to ensure food safety across the Emirate. Last year, ADAFSA conducted over 103,000 inspection visits to various food establishments, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to maintaining high food safety standards in Abu Dhabi. These inspections are part of a proactive approach to identify and address potential issues before they can impact the public.
