After Serving Blogger With A Legal Notice, This Is How Cadbury Bournvita Addressed The Claims!

Most of us have grown up drinking Bournvita in our milk. It has been part of our daily diet, and our parents especially insisted on us having it because of its healthy ingredients. The faith of many parents was shaken after an influencer took it to social media and made claims about Bournvita’s unhealthy sugar content. Bournvita, which is manufactured by Cadbury (a subsidiary of Mondelez India), responded to the claims made by the influencer Revant Himatsingka and declared them to be “unscientific.” The company stated that those claims were false and not scientifically proven.

After the reel went viral on social media platforms, it caused a fuss for Bournvita. To get a hold of the situation, the influencer was served with a legal notice, following which he took the video down. In the video, Bournvita was called out for having sugar, cocoa solids, and cancer-causing colourants.

Before it was deleted, the video was viewed by over 12 million users and was also shared by personalities like Paresh Rawal and former cricketer Kirti Azad. After the legal notice was served, the influencer also went ahead to apologise to Cadbury for making the video and clarified his intent not to defame the company. He also stated his inability to participate in a legal proceeding and urged the company to retract its case against him.

A Spokesperson Clarified All The Claims Made

A spokesperson of the company also rejected the claims made by the influencer. They stated that Bournvita is formulated in accordance with quality standards. Expertly crafted by a team of food scientists and nutritionists, they make sure that the product is considerate towards health as well as flavour.

They also stated that all the ingredients used in the product have regulatory approvals and are clearly listed on every pack. The legal action taken against the user who posted the video was also addressed by the spokesperson. They stated that following the attention and the response it got from their esteemed consumers, it was deemed necessary to resort to legal action and avoid any further misconceptions about the product.
