The airline has stopped selling tickets till May 15, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). It is attempting to refund or reschedule current reservations for other dates. The airline abruptly chose to stop flights for three days starting on May 3, and the DGCA sent the carrier a show reason notice. Sources said that the refund amount is around Rs 350 crore.

According to the DGCA CAR guidelines, no operational airline would be immune from providing compensation in situations when the cancellations were caused by event(s) that were unavoidable notwithstanding the carrier’s best efforts.  It also tells that the airline must offer an alternate trip or compensation, as agreed upon by the passenger. Only if the passengers are informed of the cancellation less than two weeks ahead of the scheduled time of departure and up to 24 hours prior to that time.
