Abhijit Dowarah From Assam Uses Old TV Sets To Make Kennels For Street Puppies

Abhijit Dowarah, a man from Guwahati, Assam creates makeshift kennels from old and unused TV sets for little street dogs to protect them from the cold. He states to The New Indian Express “Pets enjoy all comforts but stray dogs suffer from lack of food and shelter. I thought I must do something for them in whatever little way possible. This led to the creation of the shelters.” He shared his story on Instagram. And a super cute video of puppies awaits you.

Abhijit turned 7 old TV sets lying at his 2-room residence in Phukan Nagar into dog shelters amid the chilly winter. He removed the unwanted parts from the old TV sets. And just used the frame to build the kennel. Abhijit then laid a sack on each kennel floor and placed a cotton cloth over it. The innovative dog kennels were painted in bright yellow and green colours and named “Baator Ghor” which means ‘street home for dogs’. The 32-year-old graduate created over 50 utility items from scrap and he likes using old and unused things and experimenting with them.

The locals identify Dowarah as an innovator. His previous innovations include a gadget for hand sanitization and a safety torch for women. Dowarah reveals to TNIE, “We are feeding the dogs today. We have decided to feed them every Wednesday and Sunday. I will keep putting in place the shelters all over the town. I have dedicated my life to innovation”.
