Indian food has left its mark in every corner of the world. Our spices and flatbreads have created their own reputation from one country to another. Proving this statement right, India’s Butter Garlic Naan has secured its spot in the Top 50 flatbreads of the world! But it isn’t the only one, another Indian flatbread has also won its way onto the list. Find out which one.

By this point, it should be no surprise when any Indian food ranks at the top of food lists. Why? Because apart from our culture, our vibrant and loud spices have made their way into everyone’s hearts.

Our Butter Chickens and Paneer Makhanis are incomplete without the softest naan or for that extra kick, Butter Garlic Naan. This bread was recently named the 2nd best flatbread of the year according to TasteAtlas’ findings.

Butter Garlic Naan was not the only Indian contender to make it on the list. It was accompanied by 8 other flatbreads in various positions, with Naan on number 3.

8 Other Indian Flatbreads Make It To The List Too

Rumali Roti, Kashmiri Naan, Paratha (collectively), Aloo Naan, Aloo Paratha, Naan (collectively), Paratha (collectively), Amritsari Kulcha, and Roti, were the ones to make it on the list.

India’s Butter Garlic Naan came in at a close 2nd right behind Roti Canai, which stood at number 1. Roti canai, alternatively referred to as roti prata, holds its culinary roots in Southeast Asia.

It is enjoyed explicitly in Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia. The dish is also popularly enjoyed in Singapore and Thailand.

While Butter Garlic Naan may have come in at 2nd, the fight wasn’t easy. Amongst the Top 50, these 10 flatbreads stood out as the ultimate champion to claim their place.

The 10 flatbreads to ace the test out of the 50 were:

  • Butter Garlic Naan
  • Nan-e-Barbari
  • Naan (collectively)
  • Piadina Romagnola
  • Tarte Flambée
  • Roti Prata
  • Paratha (Collectively)
  • Lavaash
  • Scallion Pancake

The list was compiled and shared by popular food blogging site TasteAtlas. They compiled the list based on the votes of their audience and it’s clear that Indian flatbreads stay winning!
