As MasterChef India Season 7 nears its finale, the 6 contestants were tasked by judges — Ranveer Brar, Garima Arora and Vikas Khanna— to cook a delicious plate of biryani. The biryani challenge thrown, tested the knowledge of the contestants— Suvarna, Aruna, Nayanjyoti, Santa, Kamaldeep and Gurkirat — to present a plate of biryani using the protein allotted to them. Chef Ranveer Brar Shares His Tips To Cook Perfect Biryani

Chef Ranveer Brar trained in Lucknowi cuisine, dishes out the 3Ts one must keep in mind when cooking biryani. Before the biryani challenges the chef stated that cooking biryani takes some time as the juices released by the meat must blend perfectly with the rice. He told all home cooks to always keep the 3Ts in mind — temperature, technique and trust.

Here’s What Happened During MasterChef India’s Biryani Challenge

Kamaldeep earned a special benefit after winning the previous challenge. She was tasked with allowing a protein(to cook biryani) to each contestant. While she chose chicken for herself, she allotted mutton to Suvarna, jackfruit to Aruna, prawns to Nayanjyoti, paneer to Gurkirat and fish to Santa. The contestant took to the biryani challenge sportingly. We’re sure biryani lovers were salivating watching this episode as the contestants cooked different types of biryani from across India ranging from Kolkata, Hyderabadi and Dum biryani.

Chef Ranveer Brar appreciated Suvarna Bagul’s mutton biryani and even told her he could finish the entire plate. The judges called her biryani homely and comforting. The contestant from Maharashtra usually prepares this biryani for her family on Holi. But they were disappointed by the Paneer Biryani cooked by Gurkirat. Chef Garima Arora drew attention to the burnt cashews in his dish. The contestant received a black apron and needs to prove his mettle in the elimination round.
