Gateway Of India And The Sea Facing Seating Area Closes Down For Tourists

Mumbai police received a threat on their Whatsapp number which spoke about an attack in the city reviving the memories of 26/11. Before this they had also found a yacht with weapons off the Raigad coast. All these things have led Mumbai Police to close Gateway of India and other tourist spots. The security across the city, in the crowded areas and the coastlines has been pushed a level up. 

 

Mumbai Police Levels Up Security

The Mumbai police was already on high alert ever since they found a yacht off the Raigad coast. On Friday, Mumbai Police received a message on their helpline number on Whatsapp number that said that an attack will soon be executed which wil revive the 26/11 Mumbai attacks memories. The police said that the messages also claimed that the preparations are on to blow up the city. Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar said that the terror related  message was received by the traffic control room’s phone number. All the tourist places, the places which are always crowded and the coastline have been shut down by 7pm. The railway police has also been put on alert to take no chances.

Mumbai Police Does Not Take Such Things Lightly

All the police teams like the Anti-terrorism Squad and the Mumbai Police Crime Branch have been put on alert. The other additional forces like State Reserve Police Force, disposal squads, dog squads and bomb detection have also been put on alert. Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar said that Mumbai police, Crime branch and Maharashtra ATS are investigating the case. The numbers that sent the message are too being verified. He also assured that Mumbai Police does not take such threats lightly. Both central and state agencies have been informed about the threats by the police.
