Indo-French Architechture Of Chandannagar

Chandannagar, West Bengal, is a quaint town with stunning remains of colonial Indo-French architecture. It has a touch of Francophone culture which makes it a bit different from the other cities of West Bengal. Chandannagar was also formerly called Chandernagore. The name Chandernagore is believed to have been derived from who words, ‘Chand’ and ‘Nagar’, meaning moon and city, as it sits in the location where the bank of river Hoogly bends like a half-moon. Chandannagar can be a great weekend retreat from Kolkata. It takes only around two hours to reach Chandannagar from Kolkata by car.
