The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) have signed a contract to develop a metro line between New Delhi Railway Station and Greater Noida. This is to connect the Greater Noida metro to other routes. This new route will offer connectivity between the soon-to-be-launched Noida International Airport in Jewar and other places. This will include Delhi’s IGI airport.
New Metro Link Will Connect Greater Noida To Many New Places
The contract is signed to develop a detailed project report (DPR) for the new metro link between New Delhi Railway Station and Greater Noida. The proposal for this metro link by Uttar Pradesh’s government is to offer last-mile connectivity up to the upcoming airport in Jewar. DMRC’s team made a presentation to YEIDA officials, explaining to them the link between New Delhi Railway Station and Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park.
The new metro link will connect the two places, covering a distance of 37 kilometres in approximately an hour across 11 stops. There will be two metro stretches. One will link Noida International Airport to Knowledge Park, and the other will link Knowledge Park to IGI Airport, Delhi.

Hassle-Free Connectivity
YEIDA’s officer on special duty and nodal officer for the Noida Airport, Shailendra Bhatia, said that the proposal is to make sure that the connectivity between the two airports is totally hassle-free. The two airports are about 75 kilometres apart. YEIDA has asked the DMRC’s team to submit the final DPR by March 31, 2023.
The construction of the Noida International Airport in the Jewar area is in progress. The first phase of this much-awaited greenfield airport will be completed by September 2024. After the first phase, flight operations will also begin from here.
