Booking flight tickets to Goa anytime soon? Ensure that you use the right airport codes to avoid hassles. Goa houses two airports now- the Goa International Airport at Dabolim and the newly opened Manohar International Airport or Mopa Airport at Mopa. From January 5, 2023, flyers need to use the right codes to book flights to and from Mopa Airport.

From Dabolim, the airport code is GOI. For Mopa, the code is GOX.

Use The Right Airport Codes For Travelling To Goa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Mopa Airport on December 11, 2022. Operations from this greenfield airport will commence on January 5, 2023. Thus, if you’re flying to Goa, take note of which airport you are landing at. Mopa Airport lies in North Goa’s Pernem. As per reports, Mopa airport will handle around 12 domestic direct flights initially and a minimum of 34 direct flights soon. Ensure to use codes GOX and GOI for Mopa and Dabolim airports respectively.

Mopa Airport’s first phase will have the capacity to handle around 4.4 million flyers annually. It will be able to handle around 13.1 million flyers by the wrap of phase 4.

The New Airport Is Expected To Attract More Travellers To The Beach State

Goa receives a large number of tourists in January-February. Tourists escape to the beach state to soak in the winter sun. With two airports at prime locations, Goa’s tourism sector is expected to get a mammoth boost in 2023. While travelling to Goa, try landing at the airport which is nearest to the destinations you’re visiting.
