The coronavirus pandemic has changed the meaning of entertainment. Drive-in theatres made a comeback and socially distanced sit-down concerts, started a new trend this year. To add on to this, Hong Kong now opened a first of its kind, socially distanced entertainment park. This outdoor park at the Central Harborfront offers private pods and a food hall for visitors. The park called, ‘The Grounds’ has 100 socially distanced enclosed spaces, where people can watch a movie, enjoy a concert or practice yoga. Read on to know more.
Hong Kong Opens First Socially Distanced Entertainment Park
Entertainment has a new name and that’s socially distanced fun. Visit Hong Kong’s socially distanced entertainment park to have fun in a safe manner. This park opened its doors to people on November 10. Visitors cosily sat in the enclosed pods and watched the movie, Jaws. The screenings lined up at the entertainment park also includes Pretty Woman, Monsters Inc and Live lululemon Wellness Classes. The tickets cost $150( ₹11,163) per person. Visitors can comfortably sit in the private pods including a 2.5m x 2.5m picket fenced garden, a 1.5m distance between each pod, 4 extra-large deck chairs, 1 table, and 1 lamp. These pods are sanitised and viewers can catch up on their favourite movies here.

This Park Screens Outdoor Movies & Has A Food Hall
An entertainment park is incomplete without delicious food. Similarly, ‘The Grounds’ offers its visitors a wide variety of lip-smacking snacks at its multi-concept ‘Food Hall’. Organised at Jardine House, it sold popcorn, ice cream juice, coffee, tacos, banh mi and other stuff. People could order their food online in a contactless manner without crowding the food stall. The Grounds strictly prohibited people from getting food from outside.

The Grounds Takes Strict Measures To Maintain Safety
This outdoor park in Hong Kong shall operate for 2 months. It implemented health measures including thermal screening, compulsory face masks, prohibiting outdoor food, hand sanitizer, pre-registration and health declarations to name a few. The Grounds organises live music performances, movie screenings, parent-child activities, recreation classes and whatnot.

Simon Wilson, managing director of The Grounds stated to Tribune, “We had to really rethink and be creative about a solution we can find to address the challenges of COVID-19. We have to reinvent, reiterate and rejuvenate the events industry with clever concepts that can deliver safe entertainment for consumers to enjoy.” Well socially distanced entertainment parks will be the thing of the future.
