Railways Step Up Safety And Passenger Assistance Due To Cyclone Murasu
South Coast Railway (SCoR) has stepped up safety measures and emergency preparedness across its network. On Monday, General Manager Sandeep Mathur reviewed disaster management plans, precautionary arrangements and passenger assistance measures with senior railway officials. According to The Indian Express, the railway zone has intensified round-the-clock monitoring of vulnerable bridges, tracks, railway yards and signalling systems. Teams have also been deployed to clear debris from catch-water drains to prevent waterlogging. Patrolmen and watchmen are keeping a close watch on vulnerable stretches, while emergency track maintenance materials have been stocked.
To coordinate responses, SCoR has established 24-hour war rooms at its zonal and divisional headquarters. Officials have been asked to stay in touch with state government authorities and track weather updates issued by the IMD. Passenger assistance arrangements have also been strengthened at major stations. Help desks are being set up to provide travel information, while additional counters will be operated to process refunds for cancelled tickets, if required.
