Mumbai Invites Global Bids For ₹923-Crore Marina
According to reports by Deccan Herald, the marina will cover a protected water area of 37.3 hectares and accommodate up to 604 yachts once fully developed. The first phase will provide 424 berths, with further capacity to be added in subsequent phases. MPA Chairperson Dr M Angamuthu told the portal that Mumbai’s identity was inseparable from the sea. He said the marina would open up part of the city’s working harbour for organised marine tourism, sailing and waterfront services, while keeping port operations and safety at the centre of the project.
The Mumbai Port Authority has already begun marine works for the project. These include a piled breakwater with an approach trestle of approximately 150 metres, six piled service platforms, floating pontoons and gangways for around 424 berths, along with capital dredging.

The authorities have also secured environmental and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearances for the entire project area. The selected concessionaire will be responsible for developing the landside facilities, expanding berthing capacity beyond the first phase, and operating and maintaining the marina during the 45-year concession period. At the end of the term, the assets will be transferred to the Mumbai Port Authority. The proposed facilities include a marina terminal building, an international-standard sailing school, a yacht club, a yacht repair yard at Haji Bunder, a dry stack facility, a fuel station and a five-star hotel. The development is expected to expand Mumbai’s marine tourism infrastructure and create a dedicated destination for sailing and yacht-related services.
