Delhi never stops running. The roads, the people, the businesses, they’re all racing against themselves all day every day. Now, they can race against the trains too. India’s fastest train Vande Bharat Express starts on October 5 this year for the very first time.

Vande Bharat train 22439 runs at 160 kmph. It’s the second of its kind and first with its speed. Another Vande Bharat Express rounds the Delhi-Varanasi route since February. The most striking feature we found was its engine-less design. India’s fastest train runs all by itself which only makes it faster. Can you believe it? The future is here. The train is self-propelling for faster acceleration and deceleration. That’s what reduces the travel time by 40%.

The Indian Railways plans to ease travel for Vaishno Devi’s favourite followers. The country’s fastest train will fly to Katra from the Capital city in only 8 hours. Previously this journey took 12-14 hours. Devotees can now have a breather instead of hectic schedules. The fastest train will begin its day from Delhi at 6 AM and reach Katra at 2 PM. After an hour it starts again from Katra, reaching Delhi at 11PM. This is going to prove as a huge relief for travellers but, that’s not its only appeal.

It makes us fall in love with trains all over again for a minimum cost of ₹1,630. The maximum fare is ₹3,014. It was flagged off today, but its first commercial run is on October 5. It was proudly crafted indigenously in Gandhi’s swadeshi spirit. The semi-high-speed Train 18 comes with state-of-the-art interiors, AC, Wi-Fi, GPS, CCTV, bio-vacuum toilets and many other flashing features. We can’t wait to find out what else they have in person. With sixteen coaches full of chairs, there’s plenty room for all of us!

What wins our hearts completely are the stone-pelting proof glass windows. This is not an invitation to try but, let’s be honest, it’s a necessary precaution. Unlike other stone-pelting, trains are often attacked just for fun. Another well thought out initiative is having cattle guards. The front of the train will be guarded to prevent damage and derailment in case of cattle run. India’s fastest train has got us running for vacancies. Bookings are open but they won’t be for ever!
