What’s It?

Moin Jaffer Mansuri’s association with the aromatic biryani runs in his blood. Back then, Mansuri’s grandfather ran a catering business that served the best biryanis. Later, when his father took over the business, he opened a restaurant, so people didn’t have to order one full kilo each time. The first full-fledged restaurant opened in 1973 in Mumbai. As of today, there are 10 branches in Mumbai.

Jaffer Mansuri’s stint with Dubai started in 1984, when he opened the first outlet in Naif, Deira. Family dispute led to his father and uncle parting ways, after which his uncle took over the operations of the Deira and Mumbai branches. Moin’s father later rebranded and started a new biryani outlet ‘Jaffer Bhai’s Delhi Darbar’ in Mumbai.

Over the last five years, the Dubai branch has been a go-to among biryani lovers and the queue outside the shop over weekends, is testimony to this. Mansuri who was trained by his father is a fine chef and handles the Dubai branch. The Dubai branch is a close-knit family business run by Mansuri and his brothers.
