All About Jagaddhatri Puja 2024
When in Jagaddhatri Puja 2024?
It is a five-day long festival. This year, Sashti and Saptami fell on November 7 and 8 respectively. The holy festive season will continue and be observed till November 11, 2024.
Here’s about the puja’s auspicious Tithi:
- Ashtami Tithi started at 11:15 PM on November 8. It will end the next night.
- Navami Tithi will begin at 10:45 PM on November 9 and end at 9:01 PM on November 10.
Devotees celebrate the vibrant Hindu festival and worship the three-eyed goddess with pomp and glory. Observed after Diwali, the special five-day-long festivities are celebrated on the Bengali Kartik month’s Shukla Navami tithi.
Significance Of Jagaddhatri Puja
Devotes believe that Maa Jagaddhatri is holding the world together and is the protector of the world. To celebrate this divine power, people celebrate Jagaddhatri Puja. With her four hands, she carries an arrow, a bow, a chakra, and a conch. Maa Jagaddhatri’s idol stands tall on an elephant, rides a lion, and looks divine. The rituals for the puja emanate from Tantra. The idols are immersed on the eleventh day followed by glorious processions.

Chandannagar Celebrates The Festival Grandly
It is believed that Indranarayan Choudhury worshipped Maa Jagaddhatri for the first time at his home in Chandannagar in the 1700s. For centuries, devotees in this city in West Bengal have been celebrating the joyous occasion with the utmost happiness and splendid arrangements. Just like Durga Puja in Kolkata, people from all around head to Chandannagar to witness the splendour. Larger-than-life pandals, divine idols, and extravagant lighting installations are some major highlights.
