As revealed in a report by the Gulf News, Kuwait has modified its e-visa system for expats in the GCC. With the aim of modernising the immigration process, this is being done to maintain security and keep regulatory safeguards in place. So basically, now even expats who are living in a GCC country can apply for an e-visa for Kuwait. However, they have to meet a certain set of conditions. These are as follows:

  • They must hold a valid GCC residency, and this should be for more than six months.
  • The expats should have a passport, which is valid for at least six months from the entry date.
  • They must be working in approved professions, like Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Teachers, Journalists, and Business Managers.
  • They should have a clean legal record.

However, nationals of some countries are still excluded from the e-visa. This includes people coming from the countries of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Bangladesh, Yemen, and Pakistan. They have to apply in-person at the Kuwait Embassy. In fact, they can also do so at the consulate in their GCC country, where they reside. It’s worth mentioning that the application process is entirely online. Yes, and generally, it takes 1 to 3 business days to process the visa.

So if a person is applying for a visa, they have to upload the following documents online:

  • Passport biodata page (this should be a digital copy)
  • Valid GCC residency proof
  • Return ticket
  • Recent passport-sized photograph (as per the specifications)
  • Accommodation details
  • Proof of profession (in case it is applicable)

Once approved, the e-visa is valid for 90 days from the date of its issue. Not to mention, a person is allowed to stay up to 90 days from the date of entry. So, if you are someone who is planning to travel to Kuwait in the coming months, this development is something you will want to keep in mind.
