As India slowly inches back to normalcy, especially when it comes to tourism, states all over the country are ramping up their tourist spots to welcome visitors. Madhya Pradesh started promoting caravan tourism to explore the heart of India, safely, amid the pandemic. The state also plans to develop Ramayan circuit for tourism purposes. And now, Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior and Orchha have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Cities. This wonderful news shall boost both sustainable development and tourism for both the cities. Madhya Pradesh To Boost Tourism Thanks To Inclusion Of Gwalior & Orchha’s UNESCO Recognition

Gwalior and Orchha won the coveted position of UNESCO World Heritage Cities. Now that the two cities lace UNESCO’s heritage cities list, Madhya Pradesh gears up for a boost in tourism. UNESCO included both these cities as part of an urban planning project. Authorities will work on boosting sustainable development and tourism potential for Orchha and Gwalior. Infact, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s office tweets, “With the two cities featuring in the @UNESCO’s heritage cities list, Madhya Pradesh is now more illustrious on the global tourism map.”

Gwalior prides itself in being a key tourist attraction in the state. The iconic Gwalior Fort, famous for its tom of Tansen, architecture and rich history attracts tourists from all around India. Nestled 125km from Gwalior, the city of Orchha continues to be a popular spot for people seeking seclusion and peaceful weekend getaway. The Ram Raja Temple and rafting in Betwa are some of the things tourists love exploring here. With Gwalior and Orchha’s inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage Cities list, Madhya Pradesh hopes to attract international tourists to the cities in the near future.

According to Outlook India, UNESCO recognition shall boost tourism in these cities. The international body will also play a significant role in forming a master plan here. Reports suggest that the UNESCO team will visit Gwalior and Orchha next year.
