“The oxygen cylinder’s regulator started leaking. I had to keep a thumb on the leak for about 90 minutes to survive. After the leak was plugged by my help accompanying me, I resumed the trek, scaled the peak and unfurled the Tricolour,” she said on a phone call with the Press Trust Of India from Nepal.

Aftermath
It was confirmed by her expedition in charge that she had achieved the feat of scaling Mount Everest on 22 May 2019. In fact, she also received ₹ 27 lakhs in aid from Kamal Nath, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Dehariya is currently pursuing her Masters in Physical Education and is now among the few women from Madhya Pradesh to have scaled no less than the Mount Everest. So proud!
