Kuwait’s biggest mall has a lift that people stop to film. Australian travel vlogger Luke Damant, who has more than 1.1 million followers on Instagram, was among those left impressed by the open-top glass elevator at The Avenues Mall, Kuwait.

The Lift In Kuwait Mall That Went Viral

The elevator sits in the Forum district, part of the mall’s Phase IV expansion. It is cylindrical, open-topped and made of glass, which gives riders panoramic views as it travels between levels. Clips of it have been circulating online, and its look is a big part of the appeal.

What Makes It Different

The circular glass design and open top let you take in the surroundings as you move, rather than watching a metal door.

Luke Damant’s Take

Damant shared his reaction online, calling attention to the elevator as one of the things that stood out during his time at the mall. For a creator known for finding unusual spots, an elevator being the highlight says plenty about how well it photographs.

About The Avenues Mall

The largest shopping mall in Kuwait, it opened in 2007 and is located in Al-Rai. The Forum district forms part of its Phase IV expansion.

Why Visitors Come

Beyond the shopping, malls like this have become destinations in their own right. Architecture, design details, and photo-friendly corners all play a part, and a glass lift fits right in.

Why It Is Getting Attention

The curved glass and the open top frame the interiors around it, and the movement gives short-form video an easy hook. Several posts on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook have featured it, helped along by Damant’s large following.

Should You Visit?

If you are in Kuwait, it is an easy detour. You do not need a special reason to find it: head to the Forum district and look for the cylindrical glass structure.

That said, a few things are worth remembering. The lift is part of a working mall, so expect other visitors to be filming it too. Go during quieter hours if you want a clearer shot.

A lift is rarely the star of a trip, but in Kuwait, one has earned a spot on the itinerary.
