Recently, the Ministry of Interior in Kuwait launched a new digital service for expats. The service would allow expatriates to report their lost passports. Not to mention, they will be able to obtain official loss certificates online. All of this will be available through the unified Sahel application, which is a government-based app.

Ministry Of Interior Launches New Electronic Service For Residents

As revealed in a report in the Gulf News, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has launched a new electronic service. Basically, the service is titled ‘Certificate of Loss of Passport,’ and it is available on the unified Sahel app. The service is available under the security service section. This allows foreign residents to complete the procedure electronically, without there being a need to visit government offices.

The Certificate Can Be Used For Submission To Relevant Authorities

As per the ministry, expatriates who use the service to report the loss of their passport will be able to obtain an official certificate. This certificate would be for submission to relevant authorities. The initiative aims to make the administrative procedure easier. Not to mention, it would also reduce paperwork and make government services more accessible to foreign residents in Kuwait. With the launch of the service, it highlights the efforts of the Ministry of Interior to expand digital services. It also showcases their efforts to streamline procedures for residents.

A Part Of Kuwait’s Broader Drive

The new service is a part of Kuwait’s broader drive, which aims to enhance digital government services. It allows residents to complete official transactions through a single electronic platform. This comes weeks after Kuwait launched another online service. Through the new online service, eligible former citizens were able to apply to amend their residency status online through the Sahel app. The service applied to residents who are eligible under Article 7 bis. This is the new sponsorship residency category that covers certain people whose Kuwaiti citizenship had been withdrawn.

So basically, the service allowed eligible applicants to complete the process electronically instead of relying on in-person procedures. With the government doing everything in its power to make applications easier for people, the Sahel app truly comes to the rescue for many.
