Mumbai Airport To Suspend Flight Operations For 6 Hours On October 18

On October 18th, flight operations at Mumbai airport will remain suspended for about 6 hours. According to the private airport operators, the reason behind this, is runway maintenance. This suspension will probably have a considerable impact on travellers. After all, Mumbai airport is the second busiest airport after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. 

Mumbai Airport To Suspend Flight Operations 

The runway will be closed on October 18, from 11 am to 5 pm, for repairs and maintenance work, This applies to  both of the airport’s runways, according to the Adani Group, running the Mumbai International Airport. The Mumbai airport, which handles around 800 aircrafts per day, features two intersecting runways: the primary runway 9/27 and the subsidiary runway 14/32. The private airport operator stated that this is a part of its yearly post-monsoon preventive maintenance procedure.

What Significant Tasks Will Be Carried Out?

During the airport closure, the facility operator will carry out significant tasks. This includes upgrading the AGL (aeronautical ground lights), installing runway edge lights for runway 14/32, and other tasks. To guarantee a smooth completion of the repair work, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) stated that it previously rescheduled flights for the period of the runway closure.

The Mumbai Airport is named after the 17th century Maratha Emperor, Chhatrapati Shivaji. The airport’s Terminal 2 has a total of 4 levels. Level one is for ground transportation, level two is for arrivals, level three is for domestic departures, and level four is for foreign departures.
