Mumbaikars have been waiting for the opening of the Mumbai Metro Line 3 for quite some time now. The wait has paid off! After a long wait, it looks like the metro rail project is all set to start operations soon. Phase 1 of the metro project operating between Aarey and BKC will be beginning within the next few months, as per reports. In fact, the trial runs have started as well. Trial Runs Have Kickstarted For Aarey-BKC Metro Line

Taking to X, MumbaiMetro3 (@MumbaiMetro3) shared videos of the integrated trial runs of Metro Line 3.

It has been more than 2 weeks since the beginning of the integrated trial runs for the Metro Line 3 between BKC and Aarey. This is ongoing for Phase 1. According to a report by Free Press Journal, the trial runs are conducted on a 12.44 km long stretch. It boasts a total of 10 metro stations. Only one of these stations is an at-grade terminal station and the other 9 are underground.

With the remaining construction process and ongoing trial runs, the grand day of lunching services in Phase 1 is coming close. This will be operating between Aarey and BKC. The expectations are to commence Phase 1 operations in the next few months. Later, the authorities will begin Phase 2 after about half a year of the metro project’s Phase 1.

While sharing glimpses of the trial runs on X, MumbaiMetro3 (@MumbaiMetro3) also stated how this process is validating several factors such as rolling stock, signal telecommunications, track traction, and more. “After completing trials and certifications of individual systems and certificate from Independent Safety Accessor, it will be offered for inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS)”, shared Mumbai Metro 3 on X. The stretch will begin passenger services after receiving the CMRS sanction.

There are significant plans with the Metro Line 3 and its operations. It is expected that it will be able to accommodate about 17 lakh commuters every day. One of the advantages of this new metro line includes ensuring smooth connectivity to hospitals, business centres, religious places, educational institutes, and more.
