The ‘Hook’ Of This Dog-Friendly Durga Puja In North Kolkata

Talking about the theme brings us to the conceptualising of this theme. What sets this pandal apart from the other Durga Ma idols is its placement of a bike rider running over street dogs. This points out to the society that believes in torturing these animals. Bidhan Sarani Atlas Club authorities spoke to a media agency to say that the theme of their pujo pandal dedicated to pet dogs might raise questions. But the committee still decided to go ahead with it. They even reiterated how Kolkata’s Durga Puja had received the Cultural Heritage Award from UNESCO last month.

Durga Puja 2022 begins on October 1st. Kolkata folks are thronging the local markets to shop for the upcoming festivities, which will last till October 5. But, as pujo nears, we will eventually come across other pandals that tell stories and have innovative themes, apart from celebrating Goddess Durga’s homecoming.
