Oman To Charge Travellers For Transit From January 1, 2021

Are you soon going to travel via the middle east? If yes, then we have news for you. Oman will now charge the travellers who will use the sultanate as a transit between flights. This new rule will come into force from January 1, 2021. From next year, passengers landing at airports in Oman will have a to pay OMR3 ($7.8) departure fee before boarding their connecting flight. The New Update Comes Into Play After The Revision Of Civil Aviation Law 

At present, travellers flying internationally from Oman are charged a departure fee, however, the new updates come into play after the Ministry of Transport, Communications and IT revised the Civil Aviation Law to include transit passengers. Well not only this, but Oman has also updated its quarantine rules.

The sultanate has shortened the quarantine days for international arriving in the nation. Patrons travelling to Oman now only have to quarantine themselves for seven days instead of the original 14 days. This new updated rule has been announced by the supreme committee, who is in charge of dealing with covid-19 updates.

Oman Updates Covid-19 Travel Rules For Passengers 

Besides this, people travelling to Oman will still have to show a negative covid-19 result before boarding their flight. Well, the travellers also have to take another test upon arrival. The quarantine period after this is now seven days, with a follow-up PCR test required to be taken on the eighth day.

If travellers are travelling to Oman for less than seven days, they can end their quarantine after receiving the result of their negative PCR test conducted at the airport. Oman reopened international flights on October 1 after being shut for more than seven months. Not only Oman, but Dubai and Abu Dhabi have also updated their travel rules for the patrons.

Travellers travelling to Dubai will now have to produce a return ticket copy, hotel reservation details, etc. to enter the emirate. Whereas, travellers from countries will also have to take two tests before entering Dubai.
