by Vaishalee Kalvankar

Being a citizen of India and having read so many books talking about the royalty of Indian culture and tradition, how many of you have dreamt of experiencing it? I’m sure the majority of you have. Curly Tales Anchor Bianca Saurastri embarked on a journey in India’s first luxury train, Palace on Wheels, this time on WanderLuxe. Her journey was all about luxury, comfort, royalty, authentic food, and the beauty of Rajasthan’s heritage. Here is a sneak peek!

Palace On Wheels

The Royal Palace on Wheels is one of the five most luxurious trains in the world. This train has hosted the first lady of India, American ambassadors, and many other renowned dignitaries. Bianca, our anchor, stayed in the super-deluxe cabin, which costs 12.4 lakhs for a seven-night journey across Rajasthan, all-inclusive.

The Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, in collaboration with Indian Railways, launched this royal train in 1982. The aim was to provide its guests with an opportunity to experience pomp and luxury just like the Maharajas did. The train proceeds on a 7-night journey to places like Jaipur, Ranthambore, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, and Agra. The train halts at all these destinations with a special itinerary for you to explore the city.

Rich History And Authenticity Is Intact

The royal train’s interior is a mix of modern and old-world charm. The designs are very intricate, keeping intact the rich heritage, history, and authenticity of the country. The super-deluxe cabin had a double bed, tableside seating, a lovely wardrobe, a dressing table, and a spacious bathroom. TV, intercom, and wifi are other modern amenities provided.

They also have two lavish restaurants, namely Maharaja and Maharani, with a royal Rajasthani ambience. Both these restaurants serve luscious Indian, Chinese, Continental, and authentic Rajasthani cuisine. The train also has two well-stocked bars offering the best of Indian and international brands.

Bianca also explored the land of the sand dunes with a specially curated itinerary with Palace on Wheels.  Everything from guides to travel was taken care of. Want to know more about this luxurious experience? Go and watch the latest episode of Wander Luxe now!
