The much-anticipated basket bridge, which is intended to enhance Kolhapur’s beauty and block access during floods, will be inaugurated on January 28. Nitin Gadkari, Union Road Transport Minister, will perform Bhumi Pooja and lay the cornerstone.
Nitin Gadkari Laying The Foundation Of The Basket Bridge
The bridge was something that MP Dhananjay Mahadik persistently pursued. On the Pune-Bangalore highway, a basket bridge will be built, connecting the city with Shiroli. This bridge’s opposite end will be the old Shiroli Zakat Naka. This bridge is supposed to be 1.5 kilometres long and has been given the go-ahead to receive a 150 crore fund.
After Dhananjay Mahadik left for the Rajya Sabha, the hunt for this bridge was restarted. The design for this basket bridge, known as the Kolhapur Basket Bridge, has now been finalised, and funding has been allocated. Nitin Gadkari is scheduled to arrive in Kolhapur on January 27 at 7.30 PM. Later, at 8 PM, he will visit the home of MP Dhananjay Mahadik and continue staying in Kolhapur.
On January 28 at 9 AM, a flight will depart for Hubli. After finishing the Hubli Tour, the Union Minister will be in Tardal in the Shirol Taluk. The basket bridge’s cornerstone will be laid on Saturday at 4:30. Nitin Gadkari will address the gathered workers at a meeting set to take place once the foundation has been laid. Following their visit to the Bhima Agricultural Exhibition, they will continue on to Nagpur.

The Structure Of The Basket Bridge
The basket bridge is expected to accentuate the attractiveness of the city of Kolhapur’s entrance. It is carefully planned to relieve the congestion in the traffic. There will be pillars set up outside the riverbed. Due to floodwater spreading over the highway and nearby areas during a downpour, the city is cut off. In such circumstances, this bridge will prove helpful. As traffic continues to flow over the bridge, the connection to the city will remain intact.
