Raj Thackeray Is A Brilliant Caricature Artist; He Made A Sketch Right In Front Of Us

On a special episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani dined at the home of one of Maharashtra’s most loved politicians, Raj Thackeray. Synonymous with his no-nonsense and fiery attitude Raj Thackeray treated Kamiya to a homemade Maharashtrian meal and even displayed his artistic skills by sketching a brilliant caricature piece right in front of her. His son, politician Amit Thackeray also joined in for a fun conversation.

Raj Thackeray Displays His Brilliant Caricature Skills

Raj Thackeray treated Kamiya Jani to a lavish spread of Tadpe Poha, Sabudana Khichdi, Batata Thalipeeth, Sheera and Sabudana Vada at his home. While chatting with Kamiya, the politician revealed his love for Maharashtrian culture, shared hilarious anecdotes about his childhood days and more. The best part? Kamiya requested the politician to display his artistic skills in front of her.

Being a sport, Raj Thackeray, deftly started sketching a caricature much to our amazement. Without even using an eraser once, in no time, Raj Thackeray presented a beautiful caricature of his favourite personality, India’s former prime minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He revealed that sketching is his passion and he sometimes indulges in it even during meetings.

Talent Runs In The Family

When Kamiya asked him why he forayed into politics despite being a brilliant caricature artist, here’s what Raj Thackeray replied. He said that he was anyway part of a political family and he started his career as a political sketch artist. He credited his father Shrikant Prabhodankar Thackeray and his uncle Babasaheb Thackeray for his artistic skills. Babasaheb Thackeray was a very well-known political cartoonist while Raj Thackeray’s father used to sketch artworks of film stars.
