Every year during the Republic Day parade, different states present a tableau as part of the coveted event. This year Ram Temple tableau from Uttar Pradesh has received the first prize for the best float. The tableau showcased a glimpse of the upcoming temple on completion. Last year, Uttar Pradesh came second among the Republic Day tableaux in 2020. Also, might we add that it’s the second consecutive year that the state has won a prize. Read on to find out more.
Uttar Pradesh’s Ram Temple Tableau Wins First Prize On Republic Day
The Ram Temple tableau from Uttar Pradesh has been awarded the first prize on Republic Day 2021. The award was given by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Uttar Pradesh on January 28. The tableau was titled “Ayodhya: The Cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh”. It depicted the replica of the proposed Ram temple in Ayodhya. It also showcased the revered Maharishi Valmiki seen composing the Ramayana, followed by a model replica of the Ram temple that showed how it would look after its construction.

Uttar Pradesh Wins Awards For 2 Consecutive Years
Speaking to the Indian Express, Uttar Pradesh information director Shishir said, “Uttar Pradesh has created history by winning prizes for two consecutive years.” He also added that the state received a trophy and certificate from Union Minister Kiren Rijiju at a function at Rashtriya Rangshala camp in New Delhi. Upon their second win, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to bring back the tableau from Delhi to Lucknow by road, passing through different districts for the public to catch a glimpse of it. However, there are reports of damage that has been incurred upon the tableau.

Apart from the upcoming Ram Temple, the tableau displayed Valmiki composing the Ramayana. There were also murals on either side depicting scenes from the Hindu epic. The theme song of the tableau was composed by singer Virendra Vatsa, in which he talked about how Uttar Pradesh depicts different ideologies, art, and culture – right from Ram, Sita, Gorakhnath, Tulsi, Kabir to Bismillah Khan; and how Buddha gave his first sermon on the soil of Uttar Pradesh.
