Interfaith Iftar At Al Wasl Plaza, Expo City Dubai

The Ramadan cannon firing by the Dubai Police in front of Al Wasl Plaza signalled the beginning of the ceremony.

The leaders of the Jaafari Waqf and the Coptic Church, along with delegates of the Sikh, Bohra, Hindu, Buddhist, and Jewish faiths, joined the iftar gathering.

The 2nd edition of Dubai’s Interfaith Iftar took place on Sunday. It was arranged by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department of Dubai. The sole motive was to highlight the ideals of religious peace and communal unity in the city.

The program was conducted in response to last year’s successful iftar event. According to resources, the event was graced by more than 500 people at Expo City Dubai. Dr Hamad Al Shaibani, director general of IACAD confirmed the digits.

‘Ramadan Dubai With Those We Love’

This was the slogan for this year’s initiative of Interfaith Iftar in Dubai. Father Marcos Estefanous of the Coptic Orthodox Church spoke about how this message of unity has been spread since the time of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in UAE. As per him, this Interfaith Iftar stands alone to be the message of unity of the region through the legacy of the Royal family. And how people here stay together by accepting each other religion harmoniously.

Surender Singh Kandhari, chairman of the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara stated that they similarly have been hosting interfaith iftars at the Gurudwara for years now. He showed his gratitude to be present at the mega event hosted by IACAD.

Suresh Galani, a member of the managing committee of the Hindu Temple Dubai showed his gratitude to participate in this event. He stated that this Interfaith Iftar promotes a cohesive community in UAE for many years now.

It was a soothing sight to witness people from all the faith converging at the Al Wasl Plaza to enjoy the Interfaith Iftar.
