Men Fell Into The Trap Of Online Dating Scams In Kolkata
Unfortunately, Redditor u/rkp0099 was scammed by a girl recently. He shared about this alarming experience on this online platform.
The OP matched with a girl on Hinge who asked him out to meet. On the day, they met at Kolkata’s Maddox Square and the girl went on the date with two of her friends. Well, from the ground, they headed to a cafe as suggested by her.
Entering inside, the guy saw that the place was almost empty and just four guys were sitting inside with a hookah. Sensing something shady, he quickly started googling the name of the cafe and was shocked to see people’s horrible reviews about falling into scams here.
Understanding the situation, he said that he does not smoke and cannot sit there. Though the girl and her friends tried to convince and make him stay at the cafe, he left immediately before even ordering anything. According to the screenshots attached to the Reddit post, he came across this shocking experience at Riders Cafe.

The OP shared his traumatising incident of going on a date with a girl at a mall in Kolkata. His date suggested going to a bar/restaurant and he agreed too. After reaching the location, he realised that that place charged an entry fee. It was not just another cover charge that he found out later.
After entering the bar, they started ordering. While the girl ordered a 60ml Red Label with Red Bull, the Redditor was shocked to find that a Gold Flake Medium box cost ₹600. Seeing such a high price, he asked the girl that he wanted to leave the place. He was shocked to receive the bill as the overall cost was ₹2,500. The OP shared the breakdown too and the girl’s drink was for ₹1,398, ₹400 for Red Bull, and chicken fingers cost ₹500.
According to the Reddit post, the incident occurred at Atmosphere Café in Newtown Heights. It took him a few minutes to realise that this girl just scammed him. However, before things could escalate for worse, he came out of the bar.
