Relish Mysore’s Iconic Mylari Dosa & Naati Delicacies At This Fine-Dining Space In Bangalore

In an ever-buzzing Bangalore food scene, where every weekend a new brewery pops up like daisies, it takes quite a bit to stand out. What does it take to stand out? Food that’s prepared with conviction that takes you back to the roots of region-specific cuisine. Enter Malgudi Mylari Mane, which brings Mysore’s iconic Mylari dosas and Mandya’s Naati-style cuisine to the forefront in a fine-dining format. A place pals sink their teeth into white-butter-topped dosas; families share a hearty bowl of meaty pulao; and couples come on an unconventional date where food plays cupid.

Malgudi Mylari Mane: Where Darshini Meets Military Hotel Meets Fine-Dining

Malgudi Mylare Mane certainly rings a bell for bikers and road trippers who may have dined at its first outlet on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru highway near Nelamangala. For the rest of Bangaloreans, it’s a new restaurant on the block, specifically, Koramangala 5th block.

Darshini meets military hotel meets fine dining, that’s Malgudi Mylari Mane for you. Darshini, thanks to the open kitchen where the chefs whip fresh dosas and frothy filter kaapi right in front of you. Military hotel as the menu features Naati-style dishes. And fine dining, balancing modern with traditional, where the walls are beautifully hand-painted with Karnataka’s rare Chittara art by artists from Shivamogga.

The restaurant is artistically done with basket lamps illuminating the room. Moreover, the granite slab table-tops remind you of dining at a humble military hotel in the hood. While the wooden benches and seating bring gives you the fine-dining feels peppered with nostalgia. What makes this space welcoming is that it’s an almost-alfresco restaurant, open towards the road.

Gorge On Mysore’s Iconic Mylari Dosa

Just as the name suggests, Malgudi Mylari Mane serves Bangaloreans a taste of the iconic Mysore speciality, Mylari dosa. Choose from single, ghee roast, podi or mutton keema variants. Our recommendation— the meaty Mutton Keema Mylari Dose. The melt-in-the-mouth dosa, topped with white butter is filled with spicy succulent keema. The dosa— served with coconut chutney and saagu— soaks the juicy keema like a sponge.

As you sink your teeth into the humble yet expertly-prepared traditional fare, you may wonder how much better it can get! Strong filter kaapi( with sugar or jaggery) and traditional Mysore Park are the answers. Sip a cup of comforting filter kaapi (two if you’re me). And let the crumbly, barfi-like textured, Mysore Pak with gentle handedness of ghee, tantalise your taste buds and be the unanticipated climax to your meal.
