What Is It?

The Quinta Da Pacheca estate in Douro, Portugal is 140 acre vineyard that is home to 10 massive wine barrels, which have been converted into well appointed, luxury rooms. These barrels are about 270 sq ft and are made up of simple pine wood on the outside.

It’s what’s on the inside that will knock your socks off! These barrels boast of state-of-the-art, high end amenities. It features a private bathroom, walk-in shower, modern fixtures, a large round bed, WiFi, air conditioning, a skylight to gaze at the stars, and a private terrace where you can sit in during the evening and enjoy the view of the infinite vineyard.

While at the property you can get your hands on the estate’s 116 year old wines, and indulge in wine tastings as well as samples of locally made jams and olive oil.

The property as an amazing restaurant in the premises, for dinners, and a number of wine making rooms that are open for guests to take a look at. If you are not comfortable with living in a barrel, the hotel also has normal rooms you can book your stay in. You can choose from superior double rooms, standard double rooms and ‘romantic’ double rooms which are independent from the main building.

The 10 barrels were all exclusively designed by the owners of the property, Paulo Pereira and Maria do Ceu Goncalvez. The estate has everything from Red Wine to White, Rose, and Port Wine.
