Who doesn’t dream of travelling abroad and exploring breathtaking destinations worldwide? For most Indians, Thailand is one of those few destinations that is present on everyone’s dreamy bucket lists. Travelling to this tropical paradise had gotten easier than ever and the credit for this goes to its visa exemption facility. Now, Thailand has extended its visa-free entry services to 93 countries globally.

Have you ticked off your much-awaited vacation to Thailand? If not, wait no more and start planning already as the country recently announced new updates about its visa exemption window. According to a report by Telegraph India, Thailand recently extended its visa-free travel facility. It has been increased till November 11, 2024. Get ready to explore the scenic natural allure and enjoy the grandest nightlife there.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand released a statement stating the country’s decision to grant visa exemption for citizens of 93 countries and territories. India is one of these countries and Indians can explore Thailand without a visa for the specified number of days. Nationals from these 93 countries and territories can stay in Thailand for “tourism purposes and short-term business engagements” for a maximum of 60 days.

This duration can later be increased for an additional 30 days. This can be done at the Immigration Office. Initially, the visa exception facility was officially for 57 countries globally. The recent decision witnessed a significant change with the number increasing to 93 countries and territories from 57.

About Other Visa Schemes

Along with the extension of visa-free entry waiver for 93 countries and territories, Thailand introduced two visa schemes as well. These schemes are:

  • Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)
  • Student Visa

The Destination Thailand Visa is especially for all remote employees, freelancers, and digital nomads who have the privilege to work from anywhere. Also, this visa is eligible for participants in different activities such as medical treatments, Muay Thai courses, music festivals, seminars, sports training, and Thai cooking classes.

The Student Visa is to increase foreign students’ stay in Thailand. Overseas students pursuing higher education can extend their time in this country for an extra year after completing graduation.
