There Is A Pink Water Lilies Lake In Thailand That’s Absolutely Stunning

Imagine serenity envelop you as you float on a boat surrounded by pink water lilies. As you hear the gentle tune of the water, your eyes capture the beauty of the water lilies, you wonder- if you have discovered a slice of heaven on earth itself. On a bid to increase tourism, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is inviting locals and international tourists to experience the beauty of the ‘Pink Water Lilies Lake’ in the Northeastern province of Udon Thani at Nong Han Kumphawapi, a freshwater lake.

What’s In It?

The Nong Han Kumphawapi lake covers 36 sq. km area, mostly in the Kumphawapi district and parts of Prachaksinlapakhomand Ku Kaeo districts. This lake is considered one of Thailand’s most important wetlands as it provides fresh water for agriculture and for the consumption of people living around the lake. The lake has amazing pink water lilies that bloom every year from October until March every year. Mrs. Pawana Prajit, Director of the TAT Udon Thani Office urges every tourist around the world to come and experience this beautiful gift of Nature in Thailand.

For those interested, the best time to see the flowers in full bloom are from 6 am to 11 am. Tourists have the option to hire personal cruise boats that will not only let them experience the water lilies but also the natural scenery that is filled with a variety of birds, wildlife, fish and other aquatic life.

The rental boats are available at the following piers: In Kumphawapi district – In Prachaksinlapakhom and Ku Kaeo districts, the piers are at Ban Don Kong and Ban Khon Sai and in Ban Diem, Chiang Wae, Ban Chaelae, and Ban Non Nam Yoi, respectively. Also, Udon Thani is famous for its archaeological wonders which boasts of the world’s first Bronze Age civilization that flourished in these regions 5000 years ago.
