Most of us self-proclaimed outdoorsy folks have been guilty of daydreaming about taking an expedition of a lifetime. But, then a lot of times it doesn’t even come to fruition! However, there’s a young man who has decided to live his childhood dream. Yes, a 21-year-old Indian man, Ahmed Sabith, is cycling to Egypt covering 15,000 kilometres on his bicycle, to spread the message of peace.

Ahmed Sabith, a 21-year-old Indian has taken up the unique challenge of cycling for more than 15,000 kilometres. For this, he began his journey from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, India on the 20th of October, 2022. As it happens, he is on a mission to reach Al Azhar University in Egypt, which is known for its Islamic learning and higher studies. On a journey to propagate the message of Prophet Muhammad for humanity and peaceful assistance, he will cover two continents and 11 countries. During this expedition, he will cover countries like India, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, and Israel.

A Journey Spanning 200 Days

Sabith is a resident of Bantwal near Mangalore in Karnataka, India, and he is currently on a journey of nearly 200 days. A self-sponsored trip, he has already cycled across the Western Ghats in India and reached Mumbai within two months of starting his expedition. From Mumbai, he later journeyed to Salalah, travelling towards the Hatta Border through Nizwa and Sohar in Oman. He reached UAE’s border covering 4,000 kilometres on his bicycle on the 27th of January, 2023.

A Self-Sponsored Trip Amounting to Nearly 1 Million Indian Rupees

As mentioned above, this is a self-sponsored trip for which he has been saving since his childhood. As it happens, the total cost of the trip is nearly 1 million Indian rupees, which amounts to approximately AED44,000. Not to mention he is carrying over 20 kilograms! He has spent nearly a quarter of his money and hasn’t had to pay for food and accommodation so far. While he is staying with her cousins in Karama, he is planning to continue his journey in the next few days by riding towards Abu Dhabi to reach the Saudi Arabian borders in seven days. From there, he will visit Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait before moving towards Mecca to perform his Umrah.
